Communities of Practice at SDC

SDC hosts an impressive number of CoPs (Communities of Practice) – and groups with a similar profile and purpose as CoPs. There are CoPs within SDC, and there are bigger CoPs connecting SDC with other development agencies, assuring the international sharing of experience.

The following list is based on the CoPs presented during the CoP Dare to Share event on January 17th 2007 and two CoP events on the Gurten (Experience Sharing of CoP Practitioners) in 2005 and 2006.

• CASH - Cash Transfers are an effective instrument to provide direct, conditional or unconditional cash grants to individual beneficiaries in need before, during or after a crisis situation. Since December 2006, experiences, management instruments and networking contacts are available on the website, which is provided by the CoP CASH. The CoP CASH is a knowledge management body within the Humanitarian Aid Department of the Swiss Agency for Development & Cooperation (SDC)

• Culture Matters. The SDC Platform for Culture and Development is a network of around 50 practitioners working in Culture and Development to share good practices and lessons learnt. A moderated website and a yearly workshop are the main tools.
